Please help me welcome Andy Calabrese, Peter Chwazik and Michael F. Rotondo, MD to the cabaret Sunday, May 15th for a matinee performance of jazz! Andy recently accompanied Ann Mitchell in her Sunday, March 20th performance. Mr. Chwazik is also a familiar face to the our cabaret family as the bassists in the Dave Mancini Trio which played for Erin Boheme in the past. (By the way, Erin is returning to our stage in August, 2022.) Dr. Michael F. Rotondo will have the pleasure of entertaining you on the 15th with his percussion talents.

More about this talented trio:

Andy Calabrese, pianist, educator and music producer, plays in the Rochester area with his own jazz trio as well as Prime Time Funk and Chet Catallo and the Cats. Andy has produced many music jingles and soundtracks as well as providing tracks for many artists. He has played with many artists including Aretha Franklin, Chuck Berry, Joe Romano, Pepper Adams and many others.

Peter Chwazik has perfomed with Don Cherry, Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio, Benny Golson, Jack Wilkins, Gerry Niewood to name a few. He can be seen onstage with Herb Smith’s Freedom Trio, Vince Ercolamento, Gap Mangione and others He teaches privately; and is a lecturer in jazz at Ithaca College and Cornell University.

Michael F. Rotondo, MD was born in Rochester, New York and started playing drums at the age of 6. Recognized early on for his musical potential, he was awarded a scholarship at the Hochstein School of Music where he studied under the great jazz drummer Vinnie Ruggiero for nearly 10 years. Over his years in Rochester he was active on the local music scene playing percussion in pit orchestras, jazz and a wide range of commercial gigs. But he was not destined for a career in music. After high school, he left Rochester for Georgetown University where he received an undergraduate degree in chemistry and graduated from medical school. He went on to train in general surgery and trauma and surgical critical care. Over the next 25 years, he became a widely published internationally known Professor of Surgery with numerous honors and accolades in his field. On his return to Rochester to become Vice Dean of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and CEO of the Medical Faculty Group, he reconnected with his longtime friend Andy Calabrese and has returned to his musical roots and his first love – jazz.
